We stayed the night in a room in the neighbouring cottage, which was clean and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful, and the meal was spectacular: a special of steak topped with garlic prawns. My partner said it was the best surf and turf he'd ever had. It was a generous serving for a very reasonable price, came out promptly, and the staff were great. Quite a few people were dining even though it was a weeknight in a small country town. Emma, the owner, was lovely and friendly despite being busy. A great place to visit.

People at nearby tables were sending their meals back too, so it wasn't just us having a bad experience. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this was honestly the worst meal I've ever been served. I ordered the lunch lamb roast special and asked for gravy on the side. The server confirmed that when we paid, but my meal arrived swimming in gravy. The staff apologized and readily offered to replace it, which I appreciated. The second roast, though, was shocking: the meat was grey, burnt in spots, overcooked, very dry and greasy at the same time. I managed one mouthful. The roast vegetables were dripping with oil and completely inedible, so I left almost all of it. When staff asked how it was as they cleared the table, I told them honestly. They apologized and said the meals are usually really good, but after paying $28 for something inedible, I found that response a little disappointing. It's a shame, because it's a beautiful old pub, but I won't return.

We've been here several times and will be back again. The new owners are lovely, and the accommodation is amazing. We were very happy with our room and the facilities. We also had a delicious meal, locally sourced rump steak and lamb cutlets cooked on the char grill.

We were a group of eight mates heading bush, and left full and well watered. The new owners were fantastic and hospitable, with brilliant service, cold beers, and a good wine list to go with the quality meals. The rump steak was cooked to perfection, so good that we came back for dinner a week after our first stop on the way to the Flinders Ranges. You have to try the bread and butter pudding too, you won't regret it!

After many years of travelling around SA and Australia, this is the best pub I've been to in ages. The owners and staff are welcoming, the food arrives quickly, prices are very reasonable, and there's a good range to choose from. The wine selection went really well with the meals. Well done!
