Beach Park Motel

The night was very uncomfortable: the bed was lopsided, and there was a cockroach in the other room. We were staying in rooms 7 and 8 near New Year, and the air conditioning in room 8 wasn't working. To their credit, the staff member on duty tried to fix it, which meant switching off all the power in the room and having us leave for over an hour. It still didn't work. There was already a fan in the room, so we think the problem may have been known. They offered a partial refund that night, but despite following up numerous times, we haven't received any compensation. All in all, a negative stay. The few good things about the place were overshadowed by poor handling afterward.

My queen room on the ground floor was quiet, very clean, and had ice-cold glasses in the fridge. The shower was hot with great pressure, and the blackout curtains worked well. Staff were great about checking me in early. For what I paid, the room was really big. Honestly, I can't fault the place, and the location was great too.

The room's view was a road rather than the seaview I expected, and the spa was out of order. For an expensive Superior Queen Seaview room, it felt far from superior. The room was also filthy, as if it hadn't been cleaned, and several wall sockets were hanging loose. A leaking shower dripped constantly, even while I was in bed, and kept me awake. The bathroom tap screeched whenever I used it, even just to brush my teeth. There were no extra pillows, and no iron in the room when I needed one last night. Calling for help would have cost a lot. The service wasn't entirely bad, but the missing and broken amenities, poor cleanliness, and disappointing view made for a very unpleasant stay. I wouldn't recommend it.

It felt like a home, and the staff cooperated with us when we made a late booking, giving us the information we needed. The place was cold, though, and the rooms were just okay, nothing like a royal palace. At night there were random noises and disturbances while we were trying to sleep, and bugs skittered across the floor. It was also annoying that nobody was at reception when we needed something, even though it was early morning.
