Hotel TOTTO Wollongong

The bed was very comfortable, and dinner in the restaurant was tasty. The downstairs restaurant area felt light, airy and modern, and the coffee was great. Breakfast was a basic $25 buffet with barista coffee. Checking out online was handy too. We were in town for a play at the Uni and the location suited us. Parking was easy and included in our package. Online check-in made arrival simple: I scanned the QR code in the lobby and collected the key. Our king room was clean and new, but small and very basic. There was no wardrobe, just a couple of hangers on a wall frame. The jug’s cord couldn’t reach a power point near the desk, so we put it on the floor. There was only one cup, meaning one of us had tea in a water glass, and no chairs, so the bed was the only place to sit. The wall lights above the bed were so low we kept knocking our heads. One was broken but had been put back on its fitting, with broken glass inside the light over the bed. Luckily none landed on the bed. The aircon was noisy, so we turned it off. It was a hot night and I didn’t sleep well. There was also outside noise on Saturday until around 2am, so light sleepers may not get much rest, as I didn’t.

The restaurant downstairs was excellent and convenient, with great-quality food. The coffee was Melbourne-spec, if not better. Gym access was a nice bonus too: we appreciated having access to a paid off-site gym, and it worked very well. We had an amazing Christmas stay at Hotel Totto. The team were fantastic, especially Jenni, Brianna and Charlotte, along with others whose names I didn’t catch. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful. I used to live in Wollongong and was genuinely impressed by the service throughout the hotel. Our room was modern, clean and comfortable, a great fit for a longer holiday stay. I’d absolutely recommend Hotel Totto.

The location was very convenient, close to shopping centres, food outlets and train stations. Front desk staff were extremely friendly, and the coffee and breakfast there were good. Parking was very limited over the weekend, so I had to keep asking reception to open the upper level. The room’s air conditioner was quite loud.

That all-in-one aircon unit in the room was incredibly loud, even on its lowest, quietest setting, and we couldn’t sleep with it running. The window only opens a tiny bit, so leaving it open meant hearing the street all night. We also got the never-ending garbage trucks after a public holiday. I should’ve read the reviews before booking.
