Golf Place Inn

It’s a laid-back, convenient place near shopping centres, pubs, beaches and the lake. It’s pet friendly, and the pool area has a BBQ and table setting. The rooms were average, but great for pets. Only one stove top element was working at the time; I didn’t complain because it was Christmas, and the receptionist was absolutely lovely. Thanks, Golf Place Inn.

Reception was friendly and the price was OK, but our stay would have been much better without the bugs and dirty floor. There were cracks around the floorboards where lots of bugs could get in, including cockroaches during our one-night stay. Under the bed wasn’t clean, and the outdoor facilities didn’t look well maintained. The room itself looked good and renovated compared with the outdoor areas. I liked the bright lights in the room and toilet, and it was quiet at night despite our window facing the highway.

I booked two days and left in less than one, losing the remaining night because the place was filthy and unsuitable. I found dog hair on the bed and floor, and the bathroom was musty, foul-smelling and damp, with mold. The wardrobe left my clothes needing an immediate wash. The curtains smelled dirty enough that I felt I’d need a shower if I touched them. When I handed in the key, nobody asked why I was leaving, even though the conditions were obvious. The place was nothing like the pictures. It was the worst experience ever, and I’ll never go back, even if it’s free or they pay me. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Google should add a minus-five-star rating.

I paid over $700 for three nights and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. It was absolutely filthy and unreasonable to stay in. The room smelled stale, and the bathroom was worse, very damp with mold everywhere, especially on the shower curtains, which were slimy and sticky. It made me sick every time I went in. There was no sink in the room’s kitchen, so I had to wash plates in the bathroom sink. The bathroom water wasn’t drinkable either, so I had to buy a box of mineral water. The pools and BBQs were also unusable. I’d been told on the phone there were two working pools and barbecue facilities, but both pools were out of order. One was completely dry with no water, and I don’t know when it was last used. The other had algae all over it. The BBQ area was dusty and looked unused. They gave me two numbers to call for help, but when I asked for room cleaners to change the sheets, I was told they weren’t available and I’d have to wait until midday. I was there on holiday. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t dare suggest this place to anyone.
