Woodend Cottage

My family stayed here for my wedding nearby and had the most wonderful time. I even got a text saying they never wanted to leave! The owners were absolutely amazing, and I heard all about their Lady Gaga stories. Thanks for taking such good care of my family. The house is beautiful and amazing, and I can't wait to come back and experience it myself.

The Wooden Cottage in Woodend is a true gem, and if we ever return to Woodend, we'd certainly want to stay here again. We spent nine wonderful nights there in March 2013, with my husband, son, and parents. It's fully self-sufficient, with a pantry stocked with food, teas, fresh farm eggs, cereals, and even a bread machine. The kitchen is modern but has old-time charm, and the handmade basin is gorgeous. There was lots of room for four adults and our busy four year old, plus two big baskets of games for when the outdoors didn't appeal. There's so much to see and hear outside, and our son loved making up stories about how the trike got up the tree. Our four year old enjoyed greeting the friendly alpacas, Eric and Jason, and collecting apples and carrots for Ruby the pig each day. We didn't spot Koori the Kola, but were lucky enough to see six Black Crested Cockatoos. Alf was knowledgeable, passionate, and helpful with suggestions for places to visit. I would definitely recommend this place. It truly felt like heaven.

Cassius was friendly and quick to answer our booking and check-in and check-out questions. Woodend Cottage was quiet and peaceful, just what we needed for a relaxing weekend away, though Woodend was only five minutes away by car. It was an easy drive to the wedding at Mt. Macedon winery, where we stayed from October 25th to 28th. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and warm and cosy with the coonara. It was well stocked with everything we might need, and the beds were very comfortable. I'm happy to recommend this accommodation. Anne Round

The grounds have lots of eclectic furniture and plenty of safe space for our Westie to enjoy, so we didn't have to worry about her. The cherry blossom trees are lovely for photos, and the property is close to Woodend and other nearby areas. Woodend Cottage is a wonderful place to stay, with comfortable beds, soft, clean, good quality linen, and plenty of breakfast provisions, including fresh eggs for the whole stay. Cassius was flexible with check-in and check-out times and supplied lots of wood for the Coonara heater.
