The food was delicious, especially the lamb pie and fish and chips, and the staff were so friendly to chat with. We loved trying the beers too, with the English Style Bitter and chocolate porter as our favourites. It was the perfect place for lunch by the fire in a cosy pub. Thanks for a lovely rainy afternoon. We were warm, full, and didn't want to leave.

That Japanese style 3.5% beer was a cracking brew, and the sours were really good too. We had a great lunch and tried a few beers. We'll definitely come back, stay the night, and work our way through the full beer list.

We had the roast and rump steak on Saturday night, both delicious, and the service was prompt. It's getting harder to find a pub roast these days. I always enjoy dining at Holgate's, and the black beers on tap are excellent. Choosing between the Porter and Stout was a dilemma, so I had both. Not many pubs offer that choice.

The chicken Parma and Lamb Shank were both tasty and good value. We had a great meal, with friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

For our Christmas work function, we booked the Tap Room and had a great time. The room gave us private space to swap gifts and be silly. Communication beforehand was great, and being able to pre order meant the food was ready when we arrived. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
