The Bayview Hotel

The room was in far worse shape than the Google photos suggested. Paint was peeling, the facilities were very outdated, and there was dust and dirt around the room. I also found dirt under the bedsheets when I checked into Room 11. I told the front desk and was promised fresh sheets, but they never came, so I had to sleep in the unclean bed. Staff seemed indifferent when I raised my concerns, and the service was poor. I would not recommend staying here. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Room 7 had no lock on the inside, so it could only be locked from outside. At 1am, a woman came into my room while I was there. I hope she had the wrong room, rather than trying to steal. She panicked while trying to get into the next room, where her partner was. There were no hallway cameras, so I felt completely exposed if anything happened, especially if I had been asleep. After that I pushed the bedside cabinet in front of the door to feel safer. My friend in Room 4 was warned by a random woman that the door didn't close properly. It looked like it could come off its hinges if someone pushed hard. Nice to know someone else was aware the door was weak while my friend was staying there. The rooms also had no private bathroom despite what was advertised, just communal bathrooms. The windows in the rank-smelling rooms only opened about 10-20% of the way, and some were broken. Carpets were stained, TVs tiny, and remotes sticky and dirty. The one night I spent there was a pretty awful experience. I feel lucky to have made it through. If you can afford it, I'd pay $90 for an Uber home instead of staying here.

The bar service was excellent, and the place had an okay vibe for a Tuesday. My friend enjoyed her steak and chips, but my rump steak and salad was disappointing. It seemed to have been cooked ahead of time and arrived not hot, with no sign of being freshly cooked. It was edible, but the temperature really let it down. This was pub lunch on 20 Jan 2026. Turn the grill on and cook a fresh steak, guys. No excuses.

We sat in the covered outdoor area for lunch, then stayed for coffee and cake. The cake was delicious, the food was good, and the prices were reasonable. Friendly staff too. A nice spot to catch up with a friend.
