The food is to die for, especially the scallops, battered or crumbed, and it’s well priced. Friendly, awesome service and decent sized rooms helped make those beers go down well. At first, the place looked a little rough around the edges, and I wondered about the lack of aircon. But with Tassie weather to keep things cool, that wasn’t a problem. If I’m back in Tassie, I’ll definitely come again.

Our first stay after coming over from Brisbane, and the bar is set high for the rest of the trip. The staff and food were amazing. Bedrooms are spacious, and the beds really comfortable. Don’t be put off by appearances, this place is fantastic!

We were disappointed by the expensive meals. I’ve been cooking for more than 50 years, and the porterhouse steak didn’t look like 300 grams before cooking. Some fat comes with that cut, but this was excessive and should have been trimmed. There was so much gristle it was almost inedible. It was meant to be medium, but being far too thin, most of it was well done. The gummy shark came as two good sized pieces, but the oil must have been too hot. The batter was fine, while the flesh inside was undercooked and mushy. Overall, a very amateurish effort. I should have taken a photo of the awful steak and a video of the mushy shark, but I’m from a different generation.

The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the meals are delicious with extremely generous portions. They’re always busy, so I recommend booking ahead.

We’d had good pizzas here before, so we wanted to give the takeaway another try. This time, the toppings were mostly cheese and salami, with not much else, and the pizzas were way overpriced. We got four for four people to eat at home, but honestly, I wish we’d bought frozen pizzas from woolworths and saved the money. Those would have beaten these easily and had more topping. These weren’t even the half price pizzas on their half price pizza day. The advertisements look awsome, but this was a huge letdown. Next time I’d rather drive to dominoes or get frozen woollies pizzas.
