Central Yarrawonga Motor Inn

We made use of the pool over the long weekend, and it was definitely the highlight. One chair was broken, but the manager quickly swapped it for another. The room was basic but clean and had all we needed for a short stay in Yarrawonga. You can easily walk to the local shops from this great location. The manager was friendly and made sure things went well, and we met some friendly people staying nearby. Thanks, we hope to return soon.

This is feedback from my mum, who went on the tour. She’d been on it once before, more than 10 years ago, and thought it was the best tour she’d ever taken. That’s why she booked again. Since then the ownership has changed, and this time was terrible from start to finish, apart from the travelling companions. She’ll never go on a Linger Longer Tour at Yarrawonga again. The worst thing was that one of her travelling buddies got bed bugs during the stay and is now struggling terribly. The rooms were very dated, and the seats had stains. On Friday morning, 14 rooms had no hot water, so nobody could shower. Some rooms had cutlery and others didn’t, so she was lucky she’d brought her own. Meals were included at the Burkes Hotel, but they left a lot to be desired. There was no choice at first, you were given whatever they served. Only on the last night did guests get to choose from four meals, after some people talked about going elsewhere to eat. The whole thing was disorganised. For example, one jug of gravy had to go around 33 seated customers, and they had to ask for more when it ran out. The bus driver was a nice bloke, but had no idea how to get home. The trip took two hours longer than it should have, and he wouldn’t listen to people offering local knowledge. He could have researched the route before setting off. He also manages the Burkes Hotel, which owns the motel where they stayed, and seems to have little time. They feel for the operators because they’re clearly understaffed, but they paid good money. If they can’t handle it, maybe they shouldn’t sell or host tour packages. She hopes this feedback helps identify problems and areas to improve, so future tours can run to a much better standard. Breakfast meant walking to the Burk Pub at 7am every morning, and dinner there at night was very basic and not appetising. I stayed here for 5 days recently and wasn’t impressed. The room was okay, nothing fancy, but the jug was very dirty inside and there were no rails in the shower. The worst part was getting bitten by bed bugs. I took photos and hope the room was fumigated before anyone else stayed there. When I got home, I needed Antibiotics for 2 weeks and cream for the affected areas. I left my holiday very unhappy. I’d stayed here 10 years ago and it was quite different then. It has changed ownership and definitely deteriorated. I wouldn’t recommend it. I can only give it 1 star, and that’s generous.

We paid $170 for one night, but the room had dirty dishes and a dirty shower. I didn’t take a photo of the shower because it was late and I needed to use it before bed. I’m not impressed. A few nights earlier, they came to my cousin’s cabin at 9pm and threatened us with the police if we didn’t stop talking. A few nights after that, I called them at 11:30pm about noise, and they said they couldn’t do anything.
