On The Wallaby Eco Lodge - Hostel

There’s plenty to do nearby, and the location is great. The place itself exceeded my expectations. Jacob and Kayla work so hard to keep it looking good, and they’re welcoming, friendly and great to chat with. I also enjoyed Jacob's playlist in the early afternoon. They’re cooking for 20+ people each night too, so give them a rise. Loki and I will definitely be back!

Good value for a family who’d rather spend more on experiences than a hotel room. We were four, with two boys aged 16 and 13, and it suited us perfectly. It’s a basic but comfortable hostel with friendly staff, open spaces and a good location for visiting the Tablelands. The cooking facilities worked well for self-catering.

I’m a bit of a private girly, so I chose one of the cabins out the back and loved it. Super comfy, clean and fresh, and the outdoor rain shower is a must. The homely, relaxed vibe hits you as soon as you walk in, and everything is so well set up and clean. I needed somewhere at the last minute over Christmas, and on the wallaby helped me out without charging a fortune. Everyone was so, so nice. It’s a great spot close to town, and I’ll stay here again when I visit yungaburra. Thanks to the wonderful staff.

The only thing we wished was that we’d stayed longer. The gardens were lovely and relaxing, it was so quiet, and we had the best night’s sleep. Cara, I hope I have that right, was super friendly and helpful at reception. It felt like being at home rather than in a hostel. The kitchen was spotless and well stocked, with free milk, coffee, tea and sugar. Toilets, showers and rooms were clean too, and we really appreciated the BBQs and cooking appliances. Do yourself a favour and book On The Wallaby next time you’re on the Atherton Tablelands. 10/10 in all aspects.
