Central Boutique Hotel

We spent most of our time out exploring the island, so the small rooms worked perfectly for us. The staff were kind, attentive, and accommodating, and the location was handy for shopping, meals, and catching a bus. The shower setup was frustrating, though. Its curtain was the only barrier, so water covered the bathroom floor, and there was no drain for it. We used a lot of towels just to keep things dry.

The rooms are very small. If you're travelling alone and don't need much space, this might work for you, but I wouldn't have booked it for two people. My old friend booked it for us for January 8-11th. What made the stay so unpleasant was how the hotel handled an altercation between us. I calmly explained what had happened to the woman at the front desk soon after I arrived. Hours later, there was another altercation, the police were called, and it became a big scene. At first, the hotel kicked both of us out. Then my friend screamed and cried, saying things I believe were lies, including that she'd paid for everything. We had split the hotel bill, and I'd actually paid $10 more. They let her stay and I was the only one made to leave. I don't know whether race was a factor, but I don't understand why the desk staff changed course after initially deciding we should both leave. Being kicked out while she stayed led to a series of unfortunate events for me that night. The whole thing felt unfair and unjust, and I don't recommend this hotel.

I liked being just a six-minute walk from Renaissance plaza, with its restaurants, bars, mall, and main waterside strip. The front desk staff were helpful when I asked where to find things. The room was small, but that was fine since I only used it to sleep. The bed was big and the bathroom clean. I do wish the shower had a spray wand, which seems easy and inexpensive to add. They were building a suite with a kitchenette at the end of the hall, and the work was noisy at times. It bothered me on the one day I came back for a nap before heading out again.

The room was dirty and looked quite different from the promotional photos. The hotel service wasn't helpful when I tried to book a taxi.
