Apartment in la Cabana Beach Resort Near the Beach

The rooms were clean, and the property is well kept, especially around the pool. Security is visible all the time. There are activities for kids and adults, and they're pretty well organized. The location near Eagle Beach is great, with several off-property restaurants within walking distance. The on-site choices are reasonably priced too, including ice cream, pizza, and breakfast and dinner options. You can rent a car on site. The concierge could use more training. They seemed to prefer not being asked questions. I needed to fill a prescription from a doctor outside the country and was sent to a pharmacy, but it turned out Aruba's law only allows a local doctor to get the prescription filled. Luckily, the resort has a doctor on call 24/7. The TV selection wasn't great, and channels often pixelated or disconnected.

The beach is the real standout here, gorgeous, with palapas available and food and drinks delivered right to you. The pool and bar are great as well, and we enjoyed the live entertainment and several happy hours. The casino felt just the right size for the property, with enough of what you need. Check-in was pleasant, and if you arrive early, you can leave your bags and use the facilities. Our room was adequate, though the walls are very thin, which I think is common for properties in this area. The hospitality was wonderful, and we'd highly recommend the place and come back.

We plan to return because it's a nice place so close to the beach. This year we had a ground floor room, and that extra patio exit made parking and getting around the hotel construction much easier. Last year, even without construction, the walk upstairs from the car felt endless. This time we went out the patio, crossed the street, and were at the beach. The beds were hard, and I don't think I could've handled them for more than a week. The handheld shower holder was coming out of the wall. The TV remotes only sort of worked, and one controlled both TVs at once. We barely used them, so it wasn't a major issue. The rooms will be better once they're all updated. It was a sweet surprise when they brought my child a piece of birthday cake, and she was so happy to get it. Staff were generally polite. They deal with a lot of people, so I understand they're just doing their jobs.

The beach is just beyond the pool, and the pool renovation is now finished. There are several hot tubs, grills, and a nice bar by the pool. The on-site restaurants are awesome, and other good restaurants are an easy walk away. There's a grocery store within walking distance, and you can rent a car right in the lobby. We love La Cabana. It's the only resort we've visited more than once, and now that we've found it, we'll probably try to come every year. They also have a range of activities if that's your thing.
