The rooms have been completely remodeled, the restaurant redone, and the staff retrained. It looks beautiful, and service was excellent. By my second day, the staff knew me by name. I ate at the restaurant a couple of times and liked the fresh food and quick service. The bar prices were reasonable, about the same as other places. There are towels at the desk for the pool and beach, and you can get beach chairs at the Renaissance Beach Club on Surfside Beach, right across the street. My room opened onto both the pool area and the hall, which was really nice. The two little whirlpools are the same temperature as the pool, so the water isn't hot. The hotel is about five minutes from the airport, and you can hear planes, though it wasn't bad at all. A lot of people and tourist information still know this hotel by its former name, "Talk of the Town." IHG recently bought it and now calls it "Voco Surfside."

We got locked out of our air bnb, and Carol helped us get into a room when we turned up at midnight. My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Voco Surfside Aruba. Definitely recommend!

When every flight in and out of Aruba got cancelled, we managed to book a last minute room and hang out by the pool until our flight. The pool and lobby were clean and quiet, and the bar staff were exceptional. We had a great stay, with clean rooms and friendly staff.

This place felt like the Twilight Zone the whole time, and I can't honestly recommend it. I've traveled a lot and rarely complain as long as a place is even somewhat functional and safe, but this stay was disorganized, creepy, unkind, and unsafe. For $300 a night, it's absolutely not worth it. Aruba is STUNNING, stay somewhere else. I badly hurt my toe and found out there wasn't a first aid kit on site. Bleeding and crying, I asked for help and got sent to the gift shop. It had overpriced basics, barely including band-aids, the kind of things even $30-a-night hostels literally give away for free. At a hotel with a pool and children everywhere, that felt dangerously irresponsible. Everything seemed to cost extra. I tried to buy a bottle of water at the bar to clean the wound, stepped three feet away for a second, and was immediately barked at to "pay now!!!!" because the bar was "technically closed." Just take my $6 while I bleed out on your patio, okay?
