Antique Hotel Baku

The only good part was breakfast. I booked two days at Antique Hotel and paid in full by credit card, but on arrival they asked for another $30 or 51 manat plus tax. Then he took me to a different hotel, showed me a room, and said I had to pay another 100 manats. I told him I'd already paid $30 cash as well as the booking by card. The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting every five or six minutes. I strongly don't recommend this place.

The hotel itself was fine for the price. Staff were okay, and the location was handy, near Nizami Street and behind Hayden Tower. But the airport transfer caused a major problem. They charged $60 USD for pickup and drop-off, and since I didn't know the area, I trusted their arrangement. They also told me other taxis couldn't enter the Old City. My flight was at 12:20 PM. I was ready early, but reception didn't call the driver until around 10:35 AM. I got to the airport late and missed my flight. The driver was kind and did his best, so this wasn't his fault. Since I'd already paid, I expected the staff to coordinate and hand over the transfer properly. Their communication and organization were poor, which left me with a major inconvenience and extra cost. I messaged the hotel from the airport to tell them what happened, but they stopped replying and didn't read my messages. The management needs to improve how it handles guest service and coordinates airport transfers.

I booked Antique Hotel Baku on Booking.com, but when I arrived they said there was no room and moved me to another hotel. After I checked in, they canceled the Booking.com reservation, which blocked my account. I left that same day after hearing other customers complain about the same scam. Avoid this hotel at any cost.

The room architecture was the one thing I admired, but I cut my stay short. The location is ideal, though I wouldn't recommend it for a big family. It might suit a solo traveler or backpacker. The washrooms need better cleaning: the three-bed apartment had just one toilet, with a broken exhaust fan, mosquitoes, spider webs, and dusty carpets. Check-in felt rushed. They borrow staff from west-in hotel, I suppose because the owner is the same. The Wi-Fi also didn't work for almost five hours.
