After 30 hours of travel, we got to Baku around 9 pm and couldn't find the hostel at first because there was no sign. When we contacted the staff, they asked us a string of strange questions before giving directions. We sent our booking.com confirmation, then heard nothing for a short while before being told there were no rooms. We still have no idea where Khamsa hostel is. They left us in Baku at night with nowhere to sleep. A disgrace in such a wonderful city. (10/09/24) If this happens to you, you could try persuading the people at Passage Boutique Hotel down the road to let you stay for free. If they refuse, they do have a card reader.

The location was handy, about a ten minute walk from the busy Nizami area and its shopping street. We stayed for two nights in the hostel's only double room; the other two rooms are men's and women's dorms. The bedroom, living area, and kitchen were clean. There are two bathrooms, though only one had a shower that worked properly. You can use the kitchen and fridge, and laundry costs AZN 5. The staff were helpful, although they don't really speak English.

Everything was clean, beautiful, organised, and well looked after, with all the things you need available. The separate sleeping area for women is a good idea. Mr. Eldar and Mr. James were especially cooperative, and the whole staff helped keep the hostel in good shape. 100% recommended. Thanks to everyone there.

Vitali, the owner, is kind and always willing to help people. The atmosphere is calm and really nice, and the prices are lower than at other hostels that offer fewer facilities. One of the best hostels for foreigners staying in baku, definitely recommend it.

A great common area that's comfortable to spend time in, and the facilities are clean. It's right in the center of Baku, and the staff are helpful. One of the best places to stay.
