The hotel is quiet and very well located, which made the service issues especially disappointing. We booked through Booking.com and confirmed our arrival on WhatsApp. I said we might come before the 2 p.m. check-in time, and they said we could check in from noon at no extra cost. In fact, we arrived after 2 p.m. and the room still wasn’t ready, so we waited over an hour and a half at reception with our baby. We also learned on arrival that the hotel had canceled our reservation without a valid reason. When it was time to pay, they said our booked room was no longer available and only a more expensive one remained, so we had to pay the higher rate. The AC didn’t work, and although we reported it, nobody fixed it. We later found the hair dryer didn’t work either. A real shame, because the location and calm atmosphere are good, but the management and service were far from satisfactory.

In the morning, have a cup of coffee while looking at the city from the window. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel — Palace of the Shirvan Shahs, Baku old city and Maiden's Tower.

Friendly, laid-back staff, and the showers were great. The rooms were clean, though just okay otherwise. A lovely little hotel in the centre of Baku’s old town.
We booked a particular room in advance on booking.com and left our luggage after being assured it would be ready. When we came back, we were told it had been given away because of a vague “technical issue.” The replacement room was smaller, yet they still wanted to charge the original, higher price. It was frustrating and showed little respect for our reservation. The inconvenience and disappointment were considerable. I’d advise future guests to be cautious and confirm their booking to avoid a similar situation.
We spent two days at Qala hotel, and the staff were phenomenal. They made our time in Baku memorable. The room was a little small but neat and clean, and breakfast at Sirvanshah hotel was good.
We were made to feel at home here. Mehman and the rest of the team were especially helpful, going out of their way for us and even arranging a taxi. The hospitality was heartwarming. The Old City location is peaceful despite the nearby city bustle, with Nizami Street about 10 minutes away, and Maiden Tower and Shirvanshah Palace each about 2 minutes on foot. Breakfast had a great variety, and the view of the Flame Towers while eating was breathtaking. A lovely stay and a great choice whether you’re coming from the UAE, India, or elsewhere.
