I don’t often leave a negative review, but this was a stressful and unacceptable start to my trip. I had a confirmed reservation and sent my arrival time through Booking.com messenger, which the host explicitly approved. When I arrived at the agreed check-in time, I was told they were full and couldn’t accommodate me. The host then put all the blame on me, saying I hadn’t answered a WhatsApp message, even though I had uninstalled that app a few months earlier. That made little sense after we had confirmed my arrival the day before through Booking.com messenger. If WhatsApp was required, or the host wasn’t happy with the way I communicated, they should have told me in advance and cancelled the reservation themselves. The host’s insistence on shifting blame felt deeply unprofessional.

The garden was big and beautiful, and we had a private room. The owners were incredibly kind and generous: they made us a lovely BBQ dinner, took us out for tea, and found the Euro cup match for us to watch on their TV. Thanks so much!

Gabala Garden Hostel feels like a family home. The owner is happy to help with whatever you need. I found it the best in the city for price, location, how people treat you, cleanliness, breakfast, and facilities.
