Gold Hotel Quba

We were five adults and a child, staying for three nights. The flat had plenty of space, and there was a large outdoor seating area and a place for kids. It’s close to central Quba, and one of the reception staff was kind to us. Each bathroom had a shattaf. The breakfast buffet was ordinary, with hot dogs, vegetables, cheese, honey, omelette, boiled eggs, jam, chocolate, bread, and tea if you wanted it. There was no kitchen or bar area for a kettle and cups. The living room air conditioner had a problem, though it was fixed later. The double bed wasn’t comfortable. Otherwise, things were good.

The hosts pointed us toward a restaurant run by their friends, where we were cheated. Breakfast was stale, with very few choices, and the dining room had lots of wasps flying around. Our room also wasn’t cleaned after the first night. We found the bathroom smelled bad, little bugs were flying in the room, and insects bit us while we slept. At first glance, everything had seemed fine.

We decided not to eat breakfast because it smelled so bad, and the food was exposed to flies. There was barely anything beyond a basic breakfast. The whole place was disgusting and smelled awful. The bathrooms were dirty, and the towels had stains. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The only thing this hotel had going for it was the parking. Noise from a nearby Jewish worship center, including singing and laughter, continued through the night and made it impossible to sleep. Housekeeping staff were discourteous, too. The rooms were smelly and unkempt, and air freshener only added to the bad odor. Bathrooms had a strong air freshener residue, and the towels were stained orange. The sheets didn’t look laundered. Breakfast was unpleasant, with a very limited choice of eggs, sausages, bread, and condiments. The breakfast area was unhygienic and had flies. This poor stay significantly detracted from my trip, and I strongly advise finding somewhere else.
