Shahdag Quba

The restaurant on the hotel roof is well worth a visit. The food was excellent, the prices were reasonable compared with other restaurants we tried in Quba, and the service was very good. English-speaking staff are available. I appreciated the service from the restaurant manager and the whole team, especially Waiter Murad.

Mostly elderly people stay here for treatment. The rooms look dated, and the breakfast isn’t enough. The hotel doesn’t feel like a five-star place to me, maybe three or four stars. Also, the restaurants take cash only, not cards.

The hotel is in a quiet, well-situated spot by the park and river. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the shower was good, and the spa was spacious. We also had good service and amazing food, with lovely views from the rooftop restaurant.

We booked three rooms for a family holiday, two family suites with connecting rooms and one twin room. The bathroom door in one family suite wouldn’t open. I told reception three or four times before they sent someone to open it. The layout was a problem too: the two-room family suite has just one bathroom, and it’s in the children’s room rather than the parents’ room. When we showered, the water wouldn’t drain, leaving a pool across the bathroom. If you’re considering a family room, be aware there’s only one bathroom, one TV, and one wardrobe for both rooms. The prices are very high for this level of service, which felt like a two-star hotel despite its five-star status. I chose it expecting a five-star family holiday, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it and will never stay here again.
