Sheki Palace Hotel

I had a good stay and everything else was great, but that sign says the hotel staff can take whatever they want. How am I supposed to feel safe here?

It was just okay. Breakfast was fine, but it was completely packed. We were still eating and drinking our coffee when the waiter asked us to leave so other people could have our seats. Our first room smelled strongly of cigarettes, so we asked to switch. The attic room they gave us was bigger, but the shower was a bathtub under a sloped ceiling. We had to sit or squat in it and try not to slip, and there wasn’t a shower curtain.

We watched an amazing sunset right from our room, and the hotel’s location is great too. We stayed two nights during our visit to Sheki. The room, bathroom, and furniture were quite dated, and finding a previous guest’s underwear by the dresser really grossed me out. As a non-vegetarian, I found breakfast decent, though it might be a bit difficult for vegetarians.

This is really a family-run guest house rather than a hotel, with the landlady as the main person there. She made a delicious homemade breakfast with boiled eggs, berry and peach jams, cheese, butter, and bread. The tea, served without milk, was excellent and very aromatic. The location and view are beautiful, and the rooms and washroom were clean. If you’re visiting in hot weather, you may need to insist on getting the AC.
