City Hotel Mostar

The evening noise was the biggest problem. Loud music from a nearby club made sleep impossible, even with the windows closed. I stayed one night in September 2025, and the room also wasn’t properly prepared: the toilet hadn’t been cleaned and there were no towels. Reception dealt with that quickly and agreed to a small discount. Still, this wasn’t what I expected from a 4-star hotel.

We spent two nights here, but the service and facilities fell short of what we expected for the price. Housekeeping didn’t come to the room during our stay, only after checkout, so cleanliness was below standard. There was no fridge, which was inconvenient, and just one trash bin, in the bathroom. We expected more attention to basic amenities.

The breakfast was excellent, and there’s parking in the garage. The location is fine, though you still have a bit of a walk to the shopping centers and especially the old town. The room was spacious, which was its only good point. Cleanliness was a serious problem. We found slippery stains by the bathroom sink, dust and crumbs by the bed under the nightstand, and stains on the sheets. Dust above the bed and under the TV in visible spots looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for days. On the second day, the room wasn’t cleaned at all. Some used towels were removed and others left behind, and there were no fresh shower towels. The bed was another disappointment. We selected a large double, but it was two poorly joined single beds with mattresses at different heights. One sagged on the side, and the mattresses weren’t properly connected. After a ten-day seaside holiday, sleeping on it completely ruined me. We’d also arrived to torn bed linen. When we asked for a change, the sheets we got were damp and had to be replaced again. The housekeeper apologized at first, then was rude after our second request and stopped greeting us. Housekeeping staff also shouted and swore in the hallways right by the rooms, and didn’t greet guests. Reception staff were professional enough to give basic information, like parking and breakfast hours, but didn’t take our complaints seriously or handle them properly, except when they had to, such as bringing clean towels when there were none. We didn’t even get a fake apology at checkout. There was no minibar fridge, supposedly to save electricity and protect the environment 🧐. Instead, you have to call reception, which is impractical enough that you give up on having a drink. There was no kettle or even basic drinking glasses, and just one small trash bin in the bathroom, none in the room. For a four-star hotel, that’s not enough. When you turn on the shower, water usually comes from both the hand shower and the overhead one, so a quick morning rinse can turn into a full soak. The TV didn’t work, despite our reporting it right away and being told it would be fixed. After switching off the bathroom light, the fan rattled for a long time, which was unpleasant and especially disturbing at night. I’ve stayed in many places in Bosnia and abroad, and this four-star, not-so-cheap hotel was a real disappointment. We definitely won’t return. These may seem like small things to some, but they’re unacceptable in a four-star hotel.

There was bird droppings all over the window and black mold in the shower. The room was disgusting, absolutely filthy. Clearly nobody cares about cleaning the place. Total dump, never again.
