Breakfast was served every morning by Nina’s mother, who was so sweet and hospitable. We also loved Žika’s free walking tour. Hearing about his childhood during the Bosnian War in the 1990’s was incredibly moving. Nina and Žika were wonderful hosts, and the family-run hostel has so much history, charm, and love. The location is great too, around a 5-10 minute walk from Mostar Bridge and the Old Town. We really enjoyed staying here.

The big dining and communal area seems like a place people would spend a lot of time in during high season. The hostel is just off the main road, so passing cars didn’t bother me. Breakfast isn’t offered in the off season, though. It’s a 5-8 minute walk to Old Bridge and the Old Town, and 5-7 minutes to Konzum, a fairly big grocery store that takes euros. The bus station is a 25 minute walk away. Staff always greeted me with a smile, and I had a lovely day trip with Nino. Great hostel!

The atmosphere was friendly and social without feeling like a party hostel, which I really liked. The stay was affordable, and homemade breakfast by the family’s grandmother was included. Nina was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I’d recommend the day trip to Kravice Waterfalls, though the highlight for me was the free walking tour organized by the owner, Zjike. He told us about growing up and his experiences during the war. It was emotional because the stories were heavy, but absolutely worth hearing. I came away feeling I’d had a very authentic experience, and can strongly recommend Hostel Nina to anyone visiting Mostar.
