Hotel Astra Sarajevo

Our family loved staying here. We booked a suite, which was spacious, clean, and had an amazing mountain view. The team were professional and courteous, and check-in was quick and easy despite the small reception area. There’s just one elevator, but it never got crowded. The location is excellent. Step outside and you’re right in the heart of things, only a few steps from the main tourist attractions. Breakfast was very good, with a nice choice of eggs, sausages, cereal, breads, and cheeses. I’d definitely stay here again if I get the chance.

The location was the only good thing about this stay. In the evening, no one at reception answered calls or was there to give information. For a four-star hotel, the breakfast was very poor, with cold eggs and so on. There was no curtain on the shower cabin, so the whole bathroom got wet, and the shower sink was blocked, causing water to flood the room. I’ve honestly stayed at three-star hotels with better service and accommodation.

The café downstairs is a real gem. Haris makes incredible coffee, and the atmosphere adds a lot to the place. I only came in looking for somewhere at the last minute after my Airbnb was canceled, but it turned into one of the best customer experiences I’ve had. They made me feel at home, with a kind, welcoming, genuinely hospitable family feel.

If you’re after a good night’s rest, don’t stay here. The street noise came straight into the room, and even every sound from the hallway passed through the door. There was no peace and quiet, and I couldn’t get the rest I’d hoped for before the next day. The night became an absolute nightmare because the noise never stopped. The hotel seemed promising at first. Maybe booking for a Saturday-Sunday night was naive of me, but the disturbance was unbearable. If you want to party all night and don’t mind an 11 am checkout, which feels far too early with a hangover, this place might suit you.
