The hotel is right by Baščaršija, and the staff are very nice. We felt safe, and the room was decent overall. There was some hair on the floor and the shower drain didn’t work properly, but the heating and water were fine. Check-in was stressful because staff were only there between 2 and 3 p.m., so we had to arrange a self check-in. They were communicative, though, and it was easily sorted. The check-in process could be improved.

Baščaršija is only a few meters down the street and a turn left, so getting to Sarajevo’s old city, historic sights and lively culture was incredibly easy. We also found Pekera Edin (Edin's Bakery) nearby, with delicious pastries for a quick bite. The people at Hotel Divan were what made the stay special. The proprietress and her colleagues were welcoming and went out of their way to help. She even helped us locate someone we were meant to meet in Sarajevo, and the rest of the team gave us useful advice for our time in Bosnia. I booked at the last minute and wasn’t sure what to expect, but the stay was wonderful, truly “Divan,” meaning wonderful, delightful and divine in Bosnian. Cleanliness, comfort and friendly service clearly matter here. Our rooms were immaculate, well kept and exceptionally cozy. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied. If I return to this beautiful city, I’ll choose Hotel Divan again.

The location is the best part, very close to the old town. There was street noise in the room, and the hot water supply was limited.
