Hostel City Rest

The rooms are quite narrow, though they’re well equipped. Everything else worked well for me: the bathrooms and toilets were clean and had what you needed, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and helped me out a lot.

The staff were kind and really helpful, and they know good contacts if you’re planning to go rafting on the Neretva River. The hostel is a short walk from the old town, right by Galija, a restaurant that’s been a local favourite for years. Rooms are small but cozy. As far as I could tell, there’s no air conditioning, so you may need to ask for a fan. A great little place in the heart of Sarajevo.

The rooms are maybe 3m wide, and there’s zero privacy, with no curtains on the bunks. My locker door was broken and useless, and another guest couldn’t open theirs at all. On top of that, my property was stolen. The surveillance footage from the time it happened had been wiped, and staff accused me of being rude when I asked for a statement for insurance. This was an appalling hostel, and the money you save isn’t worth it. Spend extra somewhere else, please, and spare yourself the experience I had.

The spaces are a little small, which suited me fine, and I had no trouble with the Wi-Fi. It’s cozy and very cheap, a good choice if you’re travelling alone or with a small group in Sarajevo.
