Hostel Franz Ferdinand

The receptionist was kind enough to let us shower after checkout since we had a night bus. Our twin room had a private bathroom; it wasn’t exactly clean, but it wasn’t dirty either. The location is handy, with all the attractions about a 5-minute walk away. The entrance door is easy to miss because it isn’t very obvious.

The staff, especially Adis and Svjetlana, were so friendly and really made our stay. They even pointed us to some good bars in Sarajevo. My friends were unwell from food poisoning before we arrived, and the staff were very kind to them. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen facilities are good, and the location is perfect.

The location is good, the beds are comfy, and the other staff were super good. I’d recommend the hostel and would gladly book it again. One staff member, a woman with white hair who I guess was around 35 to 40, was very rude and had a bad attitude. I was just asking for something, but she didn’t seem to know how to communicate properly. I think management should know about this.

The rooms could be cleaner, and the place feels like it’s past its best years. I spent two nights and didn’t see any breakfast options in either kitchen, though it may no longer be offered even if many websites still mention it. The location on Maps is right, but it’s not clear which door the hostel is behind since there’s no big sign. Still, it’s good value for the price, particularly for the location and friendly employees.
