Hotel Brkic

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were kind and helpful. Just be aware that the road beside the hotel stays busy at night. The window does little to block the sound, so if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs or something similar.

Free parking was a big help, and Hotel Brkić is handy if you need to be close to the airport. We felt safe there, and the rooms were very clean and neat, which mattered a lot to us. The hosts made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and the staff were always ready with a smile or information. We had a great time and would happily come back to this warm, clean place in Sarajevo.

The best part of our stay was breakfast, though that turned out to be two espressos and a bill in euros. A sign listed breakfast as 8-10 a.m., but when we sat in the dining area and lobby, the receptionist gave us a strange look and asked, “Coffee?” There was no sign of breakfast. We paid to avoid letting it spoil the day further, but the €3 coffee could only be paid for in euro notes or KM. Luckily, we still had some DM coins. Someone also tried to take our bikes from the car in the parking lot, but fortunately they failed. As for the room, it was an okay size, but only moderately clean, with lots of hair. The bathroom tap water had little bits of scum in it, the shower was small but manageable, and there was no toilet paper when we arrived. We had to go back down to the gas station to pay by card during check-in. If you don’t speak Bosnian or something similar, you may not get very far. The hotel is well away from the center, though there’s a tram stop nearby. Street noise came through the poorly insulated windows so badly that at first we thought one was open. You can’t expect luxury from a 2-star hotel, but we’ll pick our next hotel more carefully. Reviews only help so much. :/

The bed was comfortable, and both the room and the rest of the hotel were clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and helpful. No complaints from me, it’s a good place to sleep or get some rest.
