Ljubicica Hostel

Hostel Ljubićica made me feel welcome from the start. The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed and social. Right in the center of the Old Town, it's easy to explore the main sights on foot, and it's a great budget choice for enjoying Sarajevo.

I checked in and had to leave a deposit for the key, which was my ID. Before my flight, I checked that I'd be able to get it back. But the next morning, reception wasn't open at the time I'd told them I needed my ID. I had to leave it behind so I could catch the bus and make my flight, and now I'm without my driver's license. Awful customer service. Avoid this place if you need to fly from the hostel.

Even though it's right in the center of the Old Town, I wouldn't recommend staying here. The hostel is old and run down, the entrance feels dodgy, and there were some strange people in the 14-bed dorm. The beds are comfortable, but the kitchen and bathroom were disgusting. They're unisex, with only two toilets, and a pipe broke under one sink, leaving water all over the floor. Stay somewhere else!

The staff were very kind and helped me a lot when I arrived and again when I left. They helped translate so I could order a taxi and reach my bus on time. The old town location is great, close to markets, squares, bars, and lots of other things. The cable car up Trebević mountain is nearby, public transport stops right outside, and there's a taxi stand on the corner. The 24-hour bakery next door was a big help too.
