We spent seven nights here in February, and there were some real highs and lows. The rooms are very spacious, the grounds are lovely, and the restaurant and bar staff were consistently warm and gracious. Dante at the front desk was especially professional and willing to help in every way. Communication around the property was a major problem. We got an events programme when we arrived, but nobody explained how things worked. We learned nearly all the basics from other guests, even how to reach the private beach path. We only found out on our second-to-last day that the bar has happy hour every day. Some of the women on the front desk were rude and unprofessional, and gave us misinformation. Our room’s lighting was frustrating too. There was just one harsh overhead light in the kitchen, and a floor lamp or softer extra light would have made the space much more comfortable and usable. Housekeeping also left the room unserviced until well into the afternoon several times, even though we’d put out the service indicator early in the morning. I’ve never encountered that standard elsewhere. The pool water seemed to have far too much chlorine, enough that I wondered whether it met health or legal guidelines. The place has a lot going for it, but disorganization and repeated communication failures took away from the stay.

The calm atmosphere and ocean views made South Point a lovely place to unwind. It’s a beautiful, modern hotel, and the staff were friendly without hovering. The food was consistently good, with fresh, flavorful choices. A peaceful, stylish beach escape, and I’d happily stay again.

We had a few hours before our flight home after arriving from Grenada at 1:30 pm, so we took a taxi from the airport to have lunch at The Driftwood restaurant at the hotel. The ride from Grantley Adams took about 15 minutes. The hotel looked clean and well cared for, with lovely grounds, and reception kindly kept our suitcases secure while we ate beside the small pool. Melanie was the highlight. She made us feel very welcome, the cocktails were good, and the service was excellent. The food was tasty and generous, especially the soup. My tuna was a little overcooked, though I hadn’t said I preferred it rare. We walked to the small, clean beach and along the coast to the Surfers Bar before taking a 15-minute taxi back to the airport. The seating beside the restaurant gives you a glimpse of the ocean, which would have been perfect with more shade. The nearby storage containers also made that area less attractive. Still, it was a lovely, clean, friendly hotel with a good restaurant and very good staff.

We chose South Point Hotel for my son’s 16th birthday, and the hotel is very clean with pleasing design. The service was the standout. From our first dinner, Kim and another server made our family feel welcome, decorating the table with birthday glitter and a tablecloth. I didn’t catch the names of the other two servers, but they were lovely too. Kim was consistently thoughtful throughout our stay, and the care felt genuine. The food is all a la carte, with no buffet, and the prices felt high for the portions. I paid $28 for only three shrimp. There could also be more lunch choices for children. Entertainment at the hotel is almost nonexistent, which families may want to keep in mind.

The gardens were what made this quiet, luxurious boutique hotel feel so special. They’re like botanical gardens, full of shade and color, and we enjoyed strolling around every day. At night the lighting is just right, and you can hear singing frogs, though I still haven’t seen one. We’d been looking across many islands for a peaceful break from the cold Canadian winter. A video of this place struck a chord, and we booked within days. Tammy Ann, the General Manager, does a fabulous job, and the staff are terrific. During our extended stay we made so many friends among the staff and other guests that we didn’t want to leave. We’ve found our home away from home and plan to return next year for another escape from life’s chaos.
