Butterfly Beach Hotel

I had a brilliant ten days here. The rooms were clean and spacious, with good air conditioning, and the pool was big enough, with a long section that worked well for swimming. Staff kept the place spotless by cleaning all the time without getting in the way. Most of the food was good. The Italian dishes were very heavy and more American-Italian than proper Italian, speaking as someone with Italian family. The bar staff were friendly, especially Debra and the tall lad behind the bar. Visitors can get local currency from the nice woman in the hotel gift shop.

We were happy with our stay. The pool areas were lovely, and there was no trouble finding sun beds. The dining room looks out over the ocean, and every meal we tried was delicious. The desserts were even better. Our room was basic since we didn’t upgrade, but it suited us well. The bed was huge and very comfortable, with super pillows, and housekeeping came every day. We were welcomed with a drink when we arrived, and the receptionist handled our booking pleasantly and professionally. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby.

It had been nine years since our last stay at Butterfly Beach, and we’re already sure we won’t wait that long to come back. The staff and hotel deserve the five stars. Everyone was warm and helpful, and special thanks to the Reef Bar staff and Deborah in the shop. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. We also really enjoyed eating at the Reef Bar. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very clean, all at a reasonable price.

I’ve been coming to Butterfly Beach since I discovered it in September 2011, but I’ll be avoiding the bar from now on. I brought someone who’d just arrived from the UK there for rum cocktails, and they had the same experience I did. The younger bar staff were rude and seemed reluctant to help customers who looked like them. They carried on chatting and joking among themselves instead of paying attention to customers. They don’t deserve tips. The hotel rooms are okay. I really liked Room 105, with the pool at the back. They need mature staff who take the job seriously and care about customers’ experience.
