We found the place clean, but the hot water for showers was almost nonexistent, and one toilet kept running until I shut off its water supply. It’s a pretty basic place to stay. We booked at the last minute after our flight was canceled, and there was nobody on site to check us in. You’re meant to book an arrival time through the confirmation email. I missed that, called instead, and then waited 45 minutes for someone to let us in. They also take cash only at check-in, no credit cards.

These are great holiday apartments, and they’re near Oistins if you want fish and local vibes. The airport is only about 5 minutes away, so they’re ideal for a stopover.

The harbour and Victorian precinct views are lovely from Mariner Suites in Oamaru, and both the penguins and the precinct are an easy walk away. The rooms are modern and spacious, with quality finishes and very comfortable beds. We also liked the thoughtful touches, including bathrobes and sheepskins. Debbie and Ross are super hosts. Thanks so much from Sue and Nick.
