Accra Beach Hotel & Spa

The area was alright, with a few places to eat and a nearby beach. The rooms felt dated. I also thought the breakfast buffet cost too much for the limited selection, and for what I paid to stay, I expected more.

There were bed bugs everywhere, the TV didn’t work, and trying to switch it on seemed to send electricity out of the socket. Staff ignored requests for help and wouldn’t let you ask questions. One staff member called me “slutty” for wearing a bikini at the pool. I found the staff cruel, hostile, aggressive and incompetent. They also seem to delete reviews people leave to improve their rating. Avoid this place if you want to live to see another day.

We’ve now stayed at the Accra resort three times, and we like how quiet it is. This visit, though, our ocean view room had a very loud bathroom fan, and the balcony door was so hard to open and close that it felt like it might fall apart. These things should have been checked before guests were put in the room. Seaweed arrived the same day we did, so I hope it clears before our week is over. Without the seaweed, the pretty beach and access to lots of restaurants make this a good choice if you want a peaceful resort.

The food was really good, especially lunch by the pool, and the evening atmosphere was great. The sea was lovely, there were lots of loungers, and the price felt very fair. The location is great too. A few things could be better. The beach should be cleaned more thoroughly, like the spotless Boatyard beach. The pool needs regular cleaning after closing, since it’s frustrating when it shuts while we have kids who don’t like the sea. Poolside drink service was slow, as were the bars. And people shouldn’t be able to leave towels on loungers from 7 in the morning, go out all day, then come back around 4 for a quick swim when so many others want a place to sit.
