Hotel Le Roy

The hotel is right by a beautiful beach, with plenty of beach beds and a bar close by. The location is great, but the drinks and service let it down for me. The cocktails were watery and so full of ice that you could barely taste the alcohol. The food was okay, not great, and what I ordered wasn't what arrived. When I asked the waitress about it, she didn't apologize. The rooms felt basic for the price. The waiters and waitresses seemed too serious, so I didn't feel very welcome as a customer, except at reception. Service needs to improve.

Noise from the bars to the left of the hotel was the main downside, on two evenings each week. That's outside the hotel's control. If you want lively nights, stay on that side and join the party; for a quieter stay, ask to be in a room on the right. We still had a great holiday and would come back to Hotel Le Roy, in a room on the right. We found the price reasonable for Barbados given the location, facilities, and service. Our room was a good size, with a large comfortable bed, safe, fridge, coffee machine, and toiletries. It was cleaned to a good standard every day, though a few items taken away for refreshing were sometimes not replaced. Reception quickly sorted that when we asked. The hotel has a calm, relaxed feel, which gets livelier around teatime happy hour as people gather at the bar. The beach is right there, with plenty of loungers and parasols for guests, and the beachside bar makes it easy to get to the two daily happy hours. In St Lawrence Gap, at the heart of Dover Beach, there are lots of bars and cafes within walking distance, most reasonably priced for Barbados. We liked the freshly prepared food at Boucan, the hotel's restaurant, and found it reasonably priced. For some reason, service was much better at lunch than in the evening, but we enjoyed the meals and were on Barbados time. The staff were friendly and helpful, and Barbados is beautiful.

We were a group of twelve, and the hospitality made us grateful we'd chosen Hôtel Le Roy. Planning was easy because communication was attentive and responsive from the start. The property is lovely and intimate, just steps from the sand, with restaurants, shops, and local services an easy walk away. It still felt peaceful and private. Breakfasts were excellent, happy hours were a lot of fun, and the whole stay went beyond what we expected. We'd gladly return.

Such a memorable stay, with friendly, fun staff who brought the best energy and made us feel welcome. The room and view were amazing, the beach was beautiful, and the location was perfect.
