Mermaid Eco Resort

The atmosphere and weather are the main draw here. It’s a nice escape from noisy cities with a group of friends, and the rooms are okay for the price. The food is good, except breakfast, which is exactly the same every day. I’d plan a short stay.

I stopped in for a coffee, and it was good, though it cost 300 tk. I’m glad that was all I had here. There was constant noise from a megaphone outside, and construction on the bridge next door, so it certainly wasn’t relaxing. Maybe it was pleasant when it was new, before COVID, but now the place has fallen into decay.

The room was horrible, and I was disappointed by the service. I wouldn’t recommend Mermaid Eco Resort even to my enemies. If you want a hectic weekend in a cramped place at a high price, go ahead. We checked into the One bedroom studio (Lake Osho) today because of the attractions shown in their Facebook pictures and reviews by famous YouTubers. We expected an open shower, plus an open sitting area with a hammock and a great view. Instead, there was no open shower, and metal sheets blocked the view from the hammock area. The washroom was so small and dirty that I felt disgusted. For 8,000 tk a night, it felt like I was paying just for a queen-size bed, with no other attraction in the room. Reception suggested a One bedroom bungalow as an alternative, but it was like a chicken coop, with hardly room to walk or put things. There was no professional manager or reception person available to handle guests. The man at reception said the manager was on leave, which seemed ridiculous. The food experience is still unknown, so I may update this later. The discounts and vague photos felt like a way to lure people in, and the full boarding offer seemed to hide the reality of the rooms and service. I think Mermaid Beach Resort is the better place to stay. For just another 1-2k on top of what I’d pay at the eco resort, I could stay in a lavish room with a better experience, AC dining and more.

Mermaid Eco Resort looks really aesthetic, and the food was very good. The staff were nice too.
