There was no soap or bath towels in the bathroom, and the kitchen had no coffee or tea. I also had to pay another €15 cash per person for bed linen if I didn’t bring my own. The living room floor was dirty, and there were cobwebs in the living room, toilet, and entrance hall. The house rules were in Dutch, with incomplete French and English translations. At De Eikhoeve, I was told on arrival that I needed to pay a €100 cash deposit on top of my online Booking.com payment. When I asked whether I’d get it back when I left, the host said I’d have to wait a few days after departure to possibly receive it. The host got irritated at the question and didn’t apologize, which felt completely unprofessional. There was a hole in the shutter in my room, and the skylight wouldn’t close all the way, so I didn’t sleep well. Expensive for what it is. I definitely don’t recommend it.

The rain shower and good dishwasher were nice touches. The furnishings are basic, though the kitchen has everything you need. There’s only a toilet downstairs, so going down the stairs at night was a bit of a nuisance. An upstairs toilet would be a plus.
