Breakfast was generous, with plenty of home-produced food, and we ate at a large shared table in the garden where it was easy to meet and chat with other guests. This is a lovely B&B tucked away from things, with only four rooms. One man runs it, which makes it very personal and quite different from a chain hotel.

The owner was a great guy in his sixties who really tried to make us feel welcome, and he did. The rooms have a sweet, old-fashioned look, with a bit of modern style in the bathrooms. I’d stay here again if I could!

We were made to feel welcome right away, and our dogs Harrie and Beppie got a warm, caring greeting too. The friendly, outgoing host handled everything on his own and offered us a drink and snack as soon as we arrived. The rooms were clean, with a warm, nostalgic feel that suited the surroundings. We came for the 100th anniversary of the First World War, and the location near Ypres worked perfectly.

After a wonderful night's sleep, we had a fantastic breakfast and were ready to get back on our bike ride. The room was spacious and lovely, and the bathroom clean. We also got to relax in a beautiful sunny garden. The owner was friendly and sociable, and made us feel at home. A wonderful stay!

The property is in a quiet area, close to genuine Flemish attractions. The host, though, was intrusive and kept insisting that guests leave an unjustified “exceptional” review on different websites. The rooms could also be cleaner.
