A Place - Boutique Hotel Emile

Getting around was easy, with tram stops a 2-4 minute walk away and a big Colruyt supermarket about six minutes on foot. Antwerp Central Station is six tram stops away. Communication was friendly and prompt, which made check-in really smooth. I booked a single room. It was small, but cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities provided, including full-size shampoo, shower gel, and body lotion that smelled amazing. A kettle for hot water in the room would have been nice, though it wasn’t far to get some from the coffee machine at the bar. I’d recommend it for solo travelers or couples.

We booked the executive room for Valentine’s Day, and it was 16C when we arrived. We tried turning on the air conditioning, thinking the heating might have been forgotten, but it didn’t work. I called the numbers we’d been given more than five times that evening, even the emergency number, and nobody answered. The floor and bathroom were cold too, and I was freezing and couldn’t sleep all night. We paid €250 for this and were offered no compensation. If you’re fine sleeping in those conditions without service, perhaps it’s for you, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Our collaboration with Maison Emile went smoothly and professionally, and I’d gladly work with them again. As producer of an international exhibition at a local museum, I arranged stays here for our visiting artists. The manager handled different arrival times and last-minute requests efficiently and professionally, and several guests used the hotel bicycles. The hotel has a beautiful setting and a design and atmosphere that really impressed me. The rooms were comfortable, and the artists especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast and welcoming feel. I’d recommend Maison Emile for individual travelers as well as small groups of professionals looking for a distinctive, more luxurious stay in the south of Antwerp.

The neighbourhood has lots of good bars and restaurants, and it’s a handy spot if you want to stay away from the busy city centre. We had a brilliant New Year stay. Annabelle was a lovely host and made us feel welcome the whole time. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and honestly spectacular. The honesty bar was well stocked with plenty to choose from.
