Martin was a great help with parking and local suggestions. Street parking just outside was very cheap, and there’s a tram stop at the door, though the centre is a bit of a trek without a taxi. We were glad we picked this place over a regular hotel. The house feels grand, with high ceilings and interesting decor. Our room was roomy and warm, with a big comfortable bed and a fireplace. The bathroom was clean and pleasant, but the bath was awkward to use as a shower without splashing water everywhere. It seems meant mainly for baths. Breakfast was really good, with toast, cheese, eggs, coffee, juice, fruit and croissants. We were only there for one night.

Martin and his team made us feel so welcome for our weekend. The hotel is full of character, beautiful, and really comfortable, with lots of neighbourhoods close enough to walk to. I’m already looking forward to coming back. And a special thanks to Martin for going out of his way to return the rings I’d left in the room.

Ludo was a wonderful host in Martin’s place, since we didn’t get to meet Martin. We had a lovely stay at Blvd Leopold, with a spacious room and a very comfortable bed.

We weren’t right in the centre. Grote Markt is about a 30-minute walk or five tram stops away, and the neighbourhood has many Jewish orthodox residents. The rooms aren’t serviced during your stay because the owner doesn’t go into them, and nobody told us about that house rule beforehand. Once we found out, we could ask to have the bed made and bathroom cleaned. The period mansion itself is stunning, the owner is very nice and helpful, and breakfast was delicious.
