I left feeling threatened and disgusted by how my partner was treated. The owner blocked the door and demanded an extra 60 euro as we were leaving, saying we couldn't go until we paid. We paid by card because we didn't want to spend hours waiting for police and have our weekend ruined. I checked the rules afterward and couldn't find anything saying a partner couldn't stay over. Booking.com also says in an answer that one extra person is allowed as long as the number of guests doesn't exceed the bed capacity. I've stayed in many hotels and never had to report that my partner would join me for one night during a stay of almost a week, let alone been held there or intimidated. My partner booked a three-night stay for me, Jordy Van Beylen, for work, using the name Agnieszka. My visa card wasn't working at the time because I was between cards. I arrived at 20:00 on 7/12 and was welcomed without any issue, and nobody asked why I wasn't the person named on the original booking. The next day the staff were friendly, though a neighbor played very loud music at night. I didn't complain. On Friday evening my partner surprised me in Antwerp, and we went to the Christmas market, then slept in my room for two. At 11h the next morning, an hour before checkout at 12, the owner's wife walked in without knocking while I was in the shower and my girlfriend was changing and packing. She accused my partner of not being allowed there and demanded an additional 60 euro. That's a random amount, since a two-person stay costs only 91 euro, making that last night 120 euro, which we were forced to pay. My partner only speaks English. The wife and husband seemed to suspect she was a woman of pleasure and refused to believe she was my partner, even though checking the reservation would have cleared it up. The husband stayed in the room aggressively and gave my partner no decent time to get dressed while I was half naked from the shower. He said I wasn't leaving until I paid extra, or he'd call the police. I didn't know the whole story then, since I was in the hotel's shared shower, and he told me the rule was clear.
