We had a horrible stay and wouldn’t recommend this place. It was too expensive and dirty, with mold in many corners, stains on the sheets and bedding, and a terrible sewer-like smell everywhere. There was no one when we arrived, and the phone number listed on the website didn’t exist. When someone eventually showed up, they were very unfriendly. The room’s socket was hanging loose, so we couldn’t use it. There was lots of noise outside all night, apparently because it’s a very crowded party area. The bathroom was dirty, and the shower was too small to use, so we didn’t use it. When we wanted to leave, there was no one there again. Never coming back.

The location is perfect for exploring the city, right next to Antwerp’s main cathedral. It’s a unique hotel with rooms decorated in old-world style. My room was very spacious and opened onto a garden area. There’s no breakfast service, but plenty of small cafés and restaurants just steps away.

TLDR: A few things the booking sites don’t tell you. There’s no staff communicating with you, and their phone numbers don’t work. It’s a very loud area on weekends. I wasn’t even holding them to that standard, but it’s dusty everywhere, so lower your expectations. Our bathroom lights didn’t work. That might usually be understandable, but only if you can get in touch with staff. Sad to see such a beautiful place so badly managed. In my earlier post, I said no one from staff responded afterward to fix the issue of us getting the wrong room. I didn’t let it ruin my birthday, but still. More than 24 hours later, I still hadn’t received a response, and staff didn’t bother communicating with me.

The price feels fair for what you get, and I’d recommend it for a quick 1-2 night getaway as a couple. Our room, which was the one we’d requested, had a lot of charm. It’s in a 16th-century building right beside the Cathedral, so the location is excellent. It was reasonably clean, though the old house could use a little more attention and perhaps some extra cleaning measures.
