The neighborhood is great, but do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. The value for money was very poor. The sheets were ripped, it was noisy, and the doors and curtains didn’t close properly. The furniture was dated, and some pieces need replacing.

The chai lattes are worth recommending, and the croque madame had a perfectly cooked egg. We also stayed in one of the apartments, with a lovely view of the monument in the middle and a great city location. The room was really cute, though a little rundown, with a curtain rod that needs fixing and a bathroom heater that was a bit wonky. You can hear noise from the stairwell and streets, but it wasn’t too loud. We had a lovely stay :)

The hotel is cozy and has a beautiful view, and the location is great, around a 15-minute walk from the center with lots of lovely sights nearby. I thought the price was fair. At the café, breakfast was delicious, especially the croque madame, and I’d highly recommend the Chai Latte. It’s a little pricey, though everything at Marnixplaats is. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel could use better care and cleaning. There was a lot of dust on the lights, black smears of some sort on the curtains, and a broken curtain rod.

The location is convenient, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the coffee was great. But the place was extremely noisy until the early morning, and I can’t understand how it was classed as four stars. Using reclaimed furniture and being environmentally conscious is one thing, even if it’s a bit “hipster.” Filling rooms with a random mix of worn-out and broken things just feels cheap. The kitchenette was taped over with “zerbrechlich” (“fragile”) warning tape, which seemed like a warning about the state of the kitchen cupboards. On a hot summer day, the air conditioning didn’t cool the room at all. It just made noise and blew dust. The studio didn’t seem clean either. The curtains had visible stains, and the balcony and chairs looked as if they hadn’t been used or cleaned in years. Come for the coffee, but avoid the apartments. V., Austria
