The Museum - Au Lit, Jérôme!

We loved the apartment and had a great host. It was clean, and we didn't hear noise from the neighbors. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, and we found it easy to walk to and from the apartment. If needed, an Uber or tram gets you around quickly. We'd happily return and can recommend it.

We came away wishing we could have stayed longer. Lydia and her B&B made our visit feel special, and the Angel Suite was even better than it looked in the photos. The room was immaculate, the bathroom gorgeous, and the garden, hidden room, and every small detail made the place feel complete. Breakfast was a highlight in its own right. We ate in a living room full of art and vintage finds, and the food was the best I've ever had. Lydia cooked it all herself with family recipes and produce from their country home. The homemade jam was incredible, and the courses just kept coming. If they offer to bring breakfast to your room, I'd say no and enjoy it in the living room. When we first met Lydia she was kind, and over breakfast we found her conversation warm and easy. It was a connection we hadn't realized we needed. Lydia and her B&B have so much heart and soul, they feel like a real diamond in Antwerp.

The hosts' welcome and seven-star hospitality made the stay especially memorable. Au Lit Jerome has a truly distinctive, authentic atmosphere, with interior design and details that amazed me. I've travelled a lot and stayed at some of the world's best hotels, but this place still took my breath away. The homemade breakfast was delicious, too. A very special experience.

The breakfasts alone made this a remarkable stay. One of the proprietors is a deeply knowledgeable cook, planning imaginative menus with such care that breakfast feels like a whole new concept. The other is erudite, generous, and happy to talk through life's big questions over the dining table. We had fascinating conversations with them both and hated leaving. Our gold room was lovely, with its original features brought out by the artistic decor and a roll top bath facing the street. The B&B is in an upscale part of Zuid, in a former notary's house. Cafes, museums, and restaurants are close, and trams make the centre easy to reach. A marvelous base for Antwerp.
