La Bushaye

The cottage was comfortable, clean, and well equipped, with a lovely view from its private terrace. We spotted a black stork in the field beside it, and the children had a great time on the trampoline and pedal go-carts. There are plenty of things to do nearby, including walks from the cottage or Val-Dieu Abbey, which is just around the corner. During our stay in May 2024, extreme rain reached the cottage, and the owner helped right away. We highly recommend it.

We felt right at home in the Land of Herve, staying with our children and grandchildren in the abbey's 'backyard'. The sunset, rolling views, and dandelions along the walking path made it easy to enjoy the small things together. There was plenty to do as well, from the petanque court and playground equipment to the 'tickle grid'. We also toured the abbey and enjoyed a delicious abbey beer. There are shops and a village nearby, and the brewery and Val Dieu Abbey are within walking distance. It's also a good starting point for walks. The accommodation has all the amenities, a lovely large garden, and a spacious outdoor area with shelter. It's well suited to a family with children or a group of friends. Communication with Elodie, the owner, went very smoothly.

L'Etable at Gites La Bushaye is a great base for walks, a visit to Val Dieu Abbey, and even a free Saturday morning tour of a small local syrup factory. Aubel has three bakeries, though they're too far to walk to, so we brought an electric bike. The gîte has beautiful views, a tidy garden with a playground, and a covered seating area shared with other guests. Its private south-facing terrace is also lovely, with a large table, barbecue, and big parasol. Bed, bath, and kitchen linens are provided, and the hostess is easy to reach with questions. Inside, everything was very clean, with plenty of cutlery, glasses, plates, and other basics. The kitchen is a bit small and dark, but it has all the utensils you need, plus a large fridge and freezer. Definitely recommended!
