The view from the lovely balcony and terrace is something special, and at night the rooms are so clean and quiet you can hear the silence. I’ve been fortunate enough to see half the world, but the setting here, with the valley, the smells, the wildlife, and the walks, made this feel like my own little paradise just a few hours from Rotterdam. The host is exceptionally friendly and knows his way around the kitchen. We had steak from the village and vegetables from the garden, then shared a bottle of red wine after dinner. When he picked up his harmonica and started playing Undersecretary of State, I got a little emotional. I don’t feel any need to travel to America, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Greece, or Switzerland anymore. I’m already sure I’ll book a few more days here again soon this year.
