Courtyard by Marriott Brussels

I’m writing to warn people considering this hotel. I booked two nights online through bookings.com and was told to pay a €40 deposit per night. I paid €80, then bought breakfast for two for one day, costing a little over €30, plus water and snacks from the downstairs mini store that couldn’t have cost another €30. At checkout, the receptionist said the €80 would be adjusted for the breakfast and snacks, and the balance would be refunded a few days later. Instead, my Revolut account was charged €107.50, with no explanation for the increase. Three weeks after checkout, there was still no refund. Support said it had already been processed and told me to check with my bank. I then disputed it with my bank and was refunded, but about two months later my bank said the hotel had responded to the dispute, and I’m sure the money was debited again because of what they said. I’ve found no way to resolve this since I don’t live in Belgium and can’t go there in person. I believe they never intended to refund the balance. The charges weren’t transparent, and I felt scammed. I hope this warns someone. Don’t fall for it. Courtyard by Marriot, if I’m ever in Belgium again, I’m coming to get my money back, you thieves!

The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is in an excellent location. Staff were extremely polite and professional. I had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent, thoughtful, consistent, and professional throughout my stay. Still, the stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Brussels fell short because of several basic issues. There was no water dispenser, the in-room boiler leaked, and the shower mixer had such low pressure that showering was frustrating. I was told it was supposedly to save the earth. Charging devices in the room was extremely slow. Dinner was poor for the price: the fish and chips had a thick flour coating and barely any fish. Breakfast was disappointing too, and the smoked salmon smelled strongly fishy.

Nina at the front desk, Simon, Nona, Valentina at the bar, and everyone else I interacted with were awesome. They made me feel really welcome as someone moving from the US to Belgium. It’s a great hotel with great service, and I’d highly recommend it for either a short stay or a longer one. I’d definitely stay here again.
