Hotel Barsey by Warwick

The restaurant was a real bright spot: lovely staff, beautiful food, and I’d happily recommend eating there. Public transport was easy to access too. Our room, though, wasn’t ready at check-in. The staff kindly offered us a free drink, but we still waited over an hour for the key, and when we got in, the room hadn’t been prepared. The sheets had a strand of hair, the toilet smelled awful and clearly hadn’t been cleaned, and there were no towels. Maybe the odor was because the toilet was in a separate room from the bathroom and there was no air freshener, but it was very unpleasant either way. It’s a generally nice hotel, and I’m sure they can do better.

The room was lovely and spacious, and the bed was really cosy. Most of the staff were friendly. The first man at reception was a bit blunt, though I put that down to a language issue. The location is away from the city centre, but handy for shopping, food, and drinks along Louise Avenue.

The room was decent for the price, but this hotel didn’t work well for a busy business trip. They returned all my laundry still in the bag because they couldn’t understand the instructions on the paper. They could have called during my work hours to clarify instead of leaving it untouched all day. It might be fine for a holiday stay.

Being near the train station made it easy to get around Brussels and reach the festival activities. I could also walk to some good restaurants and bakeries, which was a big help during my Tomorrowland package stay at Hotel Barsey by Warwick. There was a mix-up at check-in: I was given a key for room 409, but I must have misheard and tried it on 408. It opened that door. Luckily nobody had checked into 408 yet, but it could have been awkward if someone had been inside. They should double-check that. My room was spacious, nice, and seemed newer than some of my friends’ rooms. It had all the amenities, and the water heater worked perfectly. The air conditioning felt weak, which made sleeping less comfortable. For what I paid, though, it was still a good stay and decent value.
