Hotel Galaxy

The room was pretty large, and the hotel is right by the station, but the toilet was enough to ruin our stay. It clearly hadn’t been flushed for some time and smelled terrible. The bathroom and facilities were old and not worth the price. The area felt pretty dodgy, and there was a lot of noise.

The hotel felt new, and the rooms were spacious and clean. It’s conveniently located, just a three-minute walk from Brussels-North Station, which saved us a lot on transportation. The area right around the station can be unpleasant, with many homeless people, though this wasn’t an issue directly near the hotel.

A personal item disappeared from my room during my stay, and I still can’t find it despite checking repeatedly. It wasn’t worth much, but having it vanish without explanation has left me uneasy. I told the front desk. They said they would need to contact the manager. The staff were alright, but the response mostly reassured me that housekeeping wouldn’t do anything like that, rather than taking steps to resolve it or explaining how an investigation would work.

The room was in poor shape, with a dirty bathroom and broken bedside tables. It also smelled as if someone had smoked there about 10 years ago and nothing had been done since. The hotel’s elevator is rated for a lower capacity, which I find funny. Maybe that’s to reduce how often it’s maintained? The location felt downright dangerous to me. Right around the hotel I saw [ladies of the night for hire], [people who take things from others by force], and what I think was [sale of illicit substances]. Brussels-North-South is the world’s busiest heavy rail connection, so there are lots of trains to see and hear.
