Les Begards Espace 9

We’d paid in full in cash for two nights, December 7-9, 2022, and had a Booking.com receipt. Still, when we arrived at 5:30 p.m., after spending half an hour looking for the place, we were told we should have confirmed the reservation. Even the mechanic across the road didn’t know it was there. The place was dark, the doors were locked, and there was no sign, directions or reception. It’s really a house renting out three rooms, and behind it there’s a little shack with one lit room. We knocked because there was no doorbell, then the light went out. Eventually someone opened up and greeted us. Our room had no heat because she hadn’t expected us. She turned it on, but asked us not to turn it up much or spend too long in the shower, to save energy and hot water. The next day at 4 p.m. someone called to ask if we wanted the room cleaned. The courtyard view was trash on the ground and an unobstructed look at the garbage cans. Booking.com should take this place off its listings. It falls far short of what we’ve come to expect and, to be clear, it is NOT a hotel.

Hard to find, dark at 5 p.m., and nobody there to welcome us. We were told not to heat the place too much and to save water. The complimentary upgrade doesn’t make up for that kind of service. Avoid at all costs!

There are three rooms here, and the place was very clean. Breakfast was delicious.

That weekend at Les Begards was such a lovely time. We got a very friendly welcome and the service was impeccable. Thank you so much!
