A great spot for a weekend away or a little getaway. Thanks! 😀

That weekend at Le Valangré ended up being one of the best parts of our summer trip around Europe. It took me over a month to get around to writing reviews, but this place was the one I most wanted to mention. We’ve already told several friends about our lovely weekend at this bed and breakfast in Belgium, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either. Each room has its own rustic charm, and ours had soft robes and a map of the hiking trails. The host struck a lovely balance between making us feel welcome and giving us privacy. He also chatted with us in several languages, which my husband really enjoyed. Breakfast was homemade, with a croissant from a local bakery and confiture made by the proprietor. Chaumont-Gistoux was lovely too. We walked down the street to Cafe de la Poste for dinner, then came back to Le Valangré for the night. It made for the best evening I can imagine. Thanks to Jean-Luc and family for such great memories in Belgium. We’d love to return and will recommend you to others. Merci beaucoup!

The host was great, spoke several languages, and went above and beyond. Breakfast was awesome too, with homemade yoghurt, jams and bread alongside coffee or tea, fresh orange juice, eggs, fruit and bakery buns. It’s a modern, clean place in a smaller village, but the location is central and the village has all the facilities you need.

After a long day, the quiet setting and all the green space make it a nice place to relax. The room feels more like home than a usual hotel, and if you meet the owner, Jean-Luc, his honest hospitality makes the day even better. You can have breakfast, but not dinner. That shouldn’t put you off, since there are plenty of restaurants about 3-10 minutes away. I also recommend a walk in the nearby forest. If you're visiting Romania, try the western side of Transilvania, Maramures, and north Moldavia-Bucovina in both winter and summer. The mountains are worth seeing in winter and summer too, especially the high altitude roads Transalpina and Transfagarasan, with their special scenery. Just ignore the roads’ status :) I recommend this place because it’s very nice. Give it a try, and if I’m right, give it a like :)

We picked La Valangre B&B for a two-night weekend escape, and the spring weather was sunny, breezy and surrounded by greenery. It’s a cozy place with just five rooms, including Cheval Blanc downstairs with a calm little grassy garden. We stayed in La Cabane, the largest and highest category room. The village is small but has plenty of food options, and you’re still within reach of shops and bigger cities. Wavre is close, and Leuven is a 35-minute drive. Mr. Jean Luc was welcoming from arrival and helpful with information and recommendations. The property is clean and well-kept, with a peaceful garden. Breakfast is simple, homemade, fresh and tasty, and was a highlight. La Cabane was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed and garden view. There’s a TV, everything needed for comfort, and good Wi-Fi. We brought our small poodle and had no issues, and other guests had dogs too. Guest parking is free on the property. A few things to know: there’s no minibar or fridge in the room, only one downstairs in the shared dining room. When we first entered, the toilet area had a bit of a smell, though it was very clean. Maybe moisture got trapped with the toilet door shut. The shower has no raised edge, so water can spill over toward the toilet if the pressure is high. Heating stops at night, which could leave the room a little cold on chilly nights. The stairs to the rooms are steep, so anyone with limited mobility should book Cheval Blanc, the only ground-floor room. There’s a heater but no AC, which might be an issue in hot summer weather.
