Hotel Iris

I loved everything about the stay. The room was clean and very modern, the bed was comfortable, and the shower worked well. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and breakfast was really good, with gluten-free bread too. Thank you!

Breakfast was good, and the hotel was clean. But the website pictures gave us the wrong impression. We booked a comfort room expecting a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, but got an outdated bathroom with a shower over the tub and no curtain. When we asked about the difference, staff said that comfort rooms with two beds had that bathroom, while we had booked a room with one double bed. Does the room and bathroom quality here depend on how many beds there are? The only way to get a walk-in shower was to pay an extra 30 euros per night for a luxe room. Don’t expect much of the sea view either. They can technically advertise sea-view rooms, but from our window we looked onto a narrow street lined with tall buildings and could see only a tiny part of the sea.

Breakfast had an impressive spread of fruit, meats, and cheeses. Staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. It’s a short walk to the beach and all kinds of restaurants.

The hotel is family-run, and everyone was very friendly. It’s a bit dated, though they’re renovating it bit by bit, and it’s super close to the beach. The big deal-breaker for us was the 14 euro daily charge for a baby cot, which costs 50 euros new on Amazon. It’s the only place we know in Europe that charges for a bed for a one-year-old. In my eyes, that makes the hotel extremely unfriendly to kids, and it’s the only reason we wouldn’t stay here next time.
